Yellow banarasi pure katan silk handwoven saree
The feeling was that of apprehension, nervousness and shyness combined in her new home. All around her the relatives were chatting, and being an introvert, she spoke to a few of them but not in the sense that she could immediately connect. But never in her life had she felt this lonely. She was missing her family and wished that someone from her family had attended this small ceremony. Suddenly from behind her, her husband came and asked her to accompany to their room.
“I see you are feeling a little left out” He said as he opened his cupboard.
“Yes” she replied not knowing what else to say. She had only met her husband twice before they were married and wasn’t sure on what she could talk.
“I saw a few pics of your Haldi ceremony that your cousin had posted and thought you looked lovely in Yellow” He said and handed her a small white bag.
Inside was a lovely yellow Benares Zari Jangla saree with a red selvedge. It was the most beautiful saree she had ever seen.
“how did you…., why….It’s it’s Beautiful” she uttered with tear welling up in her eyes.
“Welcome to our family and my life. Hope I will be able to live up to your family’s expectations” He said.
And indeed she had never felt so loved before. That yellow saree for her that day symbolised happy new beginnings.
